Killygarry N.S produced a brilliant display, that accounted for the challenge of Belturbet G.N.S when the two sides contested the Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Division 2 Girls final, on the 3G Pitch, Kingspan Breffni Park on Saturday last.
St. Brigid's Killgarry N.S burst out of the traps at the outset of the match, with Ally Cahill and Cara Thomson combining to find Deirbhile Lynch in space, who opened the scoring with a neatly taken point.
Kaioni Tuipulotu had a goal chance for Killygarry N.S in the second minute, but she saw her effort saved at the near post, by a Belturbet block.
Cara Thomson lashed over Killygarry's second point in the third minute to leave them with an early two point advantage. Lynch spurned Killygarry's second goal chance of the first period, when she dragged her shot wide of Amy Kelly's goal, in the ninth minute.
Belturbet G.N.S having been given a couple of reprieves, cut their arrears to a solitary point when Gemma Beatty converted a free, after Grainne Donohoe had been upended.
Cara Maguire produced an excellent piece of play, to tee up Grainne Donohoe with 11 minutes gone and the full forward was clinical with her chance, burying her shot past Joanne Reilly in the Killygarry goal. This moved Belturbet G.N.S into a 1-1 to 0-2 lead.
Killygarry's response to this setback was exemplary, as they immediately replied with a goal of their own from the next attack, with Kaioni Tuipulotu supplying the finishing touch to a razor sharp Killygarry move.
Beatty slotted over her second free for Belturbet, to leave it a drawn game at 1-2 each, after 13 minutes.
Ashling Walls nudged Killygarry back in front with a well taken point with 14 minutes on the stopwatch. Deirbhile Lynch smashed in Killygarry's second goal of the first half, with 16 minutes gone, as they began to exert more pressure on the Belturbet defence.
Lynch converted a free in the 17th minute to send Killygarry N.S into the half time intermission with the upper hand leading by 2-4 to 1-2.
Belturbet G.N.S had a sniff of a goal chance at the beginning of the second half, but they dragged their shot wide, off the target. Killygarry N.S struck three wides on the spin before they registered their first point of the second half four minutes in. Lynch and Walls intertwined with Walls shooting over a marvellous point.
Killygarry N.S were exerting huge dominance on the contest at this stage, with Belturbet G.N.S trying their best, to stay on their coattails.
Walls launched over a fantastic point from long range in the 29th minute and slotted over a free in the 35th minute to leave it 2-7 to 1-2.
Killygarry added late gloss to their winning margin, when Ally Cahill saw her shot blocked in the 36th minute, Tuipulotu was on hand to bury the follow up to the back of the net. Walls completed the scoring with her fifth point of the match in the final minute, to wrap up a twelve point win in the Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Division 2 girls football decider.
Killygarry N.S played a very nice brand of attacking football with some excellent performances all over the field.
Belturbet G.N.S held their own in the first quarter of the contest, but their failure to score for the final 27 minutes, didn't help their cause. The runners-up battled gamely throughout but came across a very strong and classy Killygarry team who just had too much arsenal in their locker for them.
