Mullagh N.S and Kingscourt N.S served up a highly exiting and competitive Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Division 1 Girls final when the two schools faced each other on Saturday last in the 3G Pitch.

Kingscourt made a positive opening to the match raising a white flag two minutes in courtesy of Lisa Prendeville's boot. Prendeville cut in from the left wing, at pace to blaze over another point for her side, a minute later. Ciara Carpenter got Mullagh N.S on the scoreboard, just shy of the four minute mark, with a free after Sophie Lynam had been fouled.

Gadrielle Sadowska who was terrific for Kingscourt, got her first point of the contest in the fifth minute, to re-establish her team's two point cushion.
There was a nine period of scoreless inactivity, as both defences reigned supreme in sniffing out the attacking threats of both teams, before Kingscourt got the scoreboard ticking once again with 14 minutes gone
Sadowska knocked over her second point blazing over on the run. Carpenter hit two wides for Mullagh, before making amends with a quality solo effort in the 18th minute, to cut her school's arrears to two points. Aisling Doughty had a goal chance for Mullagh in the 19th minute, but she was denied by a fabulous stop from Kingscourt goalkeeper Julia Sadowska, with the ball going out for a 45.

Carpenter registered her third point of the first half on the stroke of half time, when her thunderous shot, was expertly tipped over the bar by Julia Sadowska. Kingscourt as a result took a slender 0-4 to 0-3 lead into the half time break.

Ruth Smyth was fouled a minute into the second period, with Carpenter slotting over the resultant free, to level the game for the first time. Gadrielle Sadowska powered in a superb goal for Kingscourt in the 23rd minute, which gave Sophie Hannon in the Mullagh goal, no chance of stopping.
Alannah Carolan split the posts for Kingscourt after Gadrielle Sadowska's assist to leave Kingscourt 1-5 to 0-4 ahead after 24 minutes.

Ruth Smyth who was terrific in the second half for Mullagh N.S, took it upon herself to run at the Kingscourt defence and she arrowed a fizzing shot to the back of the net. Gadrielle Sadowska responded instantly for Kingscourt N.S a minute later to move St. Joseph's 1-6 to 1-4 in front.

Mullagh once they hit the front, took complete control of the final quarter of the match, with their defensive line of Shauna Stafford, Lucy Hannon, Rebecca Lynam, Caitlyn Hannon and Aine Stafford nullifying the Kingscourt attacking threat.

Ruth Smyth tacked on a point in the 32nd minute after good work from Aisling Daly. Ruth Smyth saw her goalbound strike smothered by Sadowska in the 34th minute but the rebound fell invitingly into the path of Rachel Reynolds who gleefully tucked the ball to the back of the net.
Mullagh N.S closed out the game well keeping it tight at the back and making sure they kept possession of the ball deep in the Kingscourt half. This Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Division 1 Football Final, was a close affair for the vast majority of the contest with Mullagh N.S's strong finish to the match, seeing them clinch a five point triumph.
